"You seemed to be happy with your life" and "hope that you are real fine"
The 2 phrases echo in my head for a while. Let me dissect this seemingly harmless phrases and uncover the real meaning.
"You SEEMED to be happy with your life" denotes the following: 1) You are pretending to be happy 2) You think that you are happy 3) Are you really happy
and
"Hope that you are REAL fine" denotes the following: 1) Please be real and see if you are fine 2) If you are pretending, stop pretending 3) Trying to act in front of us
Thus, it's either the way that Singaporeans tries to show off their linguistic ability - which failed terribly - or just a case of sacarsm. Whichever, I hope that it is the former.
