After 4 long days of wait, Darling is finally back from Bangkok! This is also incidentally, my first post of 2009 and it's going to be a long one!
Was quite worried when Darling told me initially that she wants to go to BKK - I mean, with the political unrest and recent fires happening, who would want to go to BKK at this point in time. But I also remember a phrase: The most dangerous time can also be the safest time - and thus, Darling went to BKK, though she was always on my mind.
Not been updating my blog plainly due to pure laziness. As usual, not very me to post photos in my blog entry (unlike my Darling), but rather, using words to explain 4 days worth of happening:
Thursday, 8th Jan 2009 The 1st Day that Darling is in Thailand. Work ended at 6.30pm for me, rushed home to bathe and then proceeded to have dinner with Mom and Dad at Zhu Ling, Jurong East. Then proceeded to find lights at some stores in JE but it was expensive and not very nice. Grandma and Grandpa arrived Singapore from Genting at 8.30pm and went Boon Lay to pick them up. Send them home, unpack their luggages and then went to sleep.
Friday, 9th Jan 2009 Work ended at 6.45pm for me. Went home for dinner cooked by grandma, then drove Dad and Mom to Balestier to find lighting. Went to this store called 'Light Arcade' but found the lights there ordinary, over-priced and quite antique. The highlight of the day would have to be supper at 'Founder's Bak Kuk Teh'.
--> Founder's Bak Kuk Teh Located along the stretch of Balestier Road, where 'Tao Sa Piah' is more famous, Founder's Bak Kuk Teh boast a host of international stars and politicians as their customers. Photos of them masquerade the shop, snapped together with the owner.
The Bak Kuk Teh soup was flavourful, with the tinge of peppery taste and herbs that is added into the soup base. The succulent pork ribs and chilli with dark sauce makes the Bak Kuk Teh a 'must-order' item.
The Pig Trotters was large for 3 people and was covered with the traditional 'loh chap'. Soft and juicy meat was the cue for this dish and the best part - it does not have the 'zhu xin' taste.
Overall Recommendation: Must Try if you are into Bak Kuk Teh
Saturday, 10th Jan 2009 Saturday started at 10.30am for me as I started off with a packet of nasi lemak bought by grandpa. At 1.35pm, left home to Victoria Theatre with Grandma to watch 'Blood Ties'. 'Blood Ties' was a play production by SIM Drama team and features my brother, Daniel, in it. 3 short excerpts emphasising the importance of blood ties were highlighted. The most touching part was when my brother made a dedication to Grandma and me - he thanked me for always giving the family guidance and advice when it was needed the most.
Play ended at 5.30pm. Brought Grandma to Raffles City newly renovated food court for dinner. She had the scissors curry rice while I had the famous Tempura 'Yong Tau Foo'. Brought her to Suntec thereafter, and went to the Fountain of Wealth - wanted to be heng heng.
Day ended off with me being in the kopitiam with Grandpa watching BPL till 3am =)
Sunday, 11th Jan 2009 It's the day when Darling comes back.
Woke up with a bag of lazy bones. But all the laziness dispel when Grandma wants to go to 'Si Ma Lu' temple to pray. Took the train to Tiong Bahru first - Grandma wants to buy clothes - then took 851 to Bugis. Done with the prayers, brought Grandma to 'The Soup Spoon'. She tried the 'Mushroom Gourmonov' and I ordered the 'Boston Clam Chowder'. She, of course, did not get used to the soup.
Went home at 5pm and then went to the 505 market, newly-renovated and re-opened. Did not really walk much and spend most time talking to Grandpa, while waiting for 4D results.
Watched Wigan vs Tottenham at 9.30pm and then Manchester United vs Chelsea at 12am with my Grandpa and Uncle.
At 12.04am, Darling gave me a missed call - the signal that she had arrived safely in Singapore from BKK. I was overjoyed.
Monday, 12th Jan 2009 Finally, after 4 days, met Darling again. Very happy to see her and I realised that we are getting closer and closer. I hope to bring her happiness and joy always =)
