A poster that is synonmous to the dead Michael Jackson (MJ). A concert that was supposed to be his final 'curtain call' and a showcase of his great works throughout his career since the Jacksons 5 days. Now, it is a movie that depicts his final moments before his unfortunate passing away - or didn't he?
Caught this movie yesterday (3 November 2009) admist all the hype, movie box records and publicity that was generated prior to it's launched. Kenny Ortega's offering on this showpiece made me write this review on my blog:
1) The presentation of this movie is more like a planned thing - the angles in which the cameras took footages of MJ rehearsing and talking and all his actions were incredible. It made you realised that the concert that was so raved about (50 of them) could actually be just a screen covering the actual intention of MJ's. It was never impromptu.
--> MJ had plans of making a movie blockbuster that would shake the movie industry. What more than using 'footages' of his rehearsals to collage into a movie after his 'death' and screen it for everyone to see. Better still, slap a timeline as to when the movie could be screened worldwide and the whole world would scramble to see this show.
2) The speeches, actions and segments used were all selected to highlight the best part of those who are still living. Would an 'impromptu' video shoot consist of interview with dancers, musicians and vocalist? The setting of all his 'rehearsals' were also very nicely cheorographed and in no way looked like a rehearsal.
--> Some call it professionalism, I call it PLANNED. How else would then be so many footages that looks like it comes out from a movie script than a rehearsal. How MJ talks to the way that he conducts himself was actually questionable to some extent as well.
3) There were some moves, actions and antics that were clearly 'un-MJ'. All these 'happenings' happened when MJ was wearing shades and there were footages of other rehearsals of the same song of him not wearing shades.
--> Fishy, very fishy. It seemed that top monies were paid to some top impersonator to mimick MJ - either that or he fine-tuned the movie himself and the final touches - if he is not dead.
I would advise fans to watch this film with a pinch of salt - and with some conviction if you need it to believe that the King Of Pop is dead. I personally feel that the movie is a money spin-off for the MJ Estate LLC and also for Kenny Ortega. Appareantly, a DVD featuring more footages would be out, and another sequel - This Is Also It! - would be released out - 2 weeks running time, no less.
